It feels great to fill up your vehicle with inexpensive, clean, renewable, non-foreign fuel! Bio diesel reduces pollution up to 90% because it has no sulphur in it and adds almost no carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Bio Diesel comes from plants that take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and release oxygen. The plants convert the carbon dioxide to oil so when the oil is burned and carbon dioxide is released, it is a small net increase of carbon dioxide. Because it comes from plants it is renewable. It is also easy on your wallet because it only about $1.50 per gallon to make. The fact that we do not have to buy it from foreign countries is also a huge bonus . Bio diesel can be used in any regular diesel engine such as cars, trucks, tractors, heavy equipment and even generators without modification. It can be used in any combination with petrol diesel from 100% (B100) to 1% (B1). We usually run B100 in the warm months and B50 to B75 in the colder months to keep the fuel from jelling. Making your own Bio diesel does take some time and equipment but the process is relatively simple. It is a "low tech" process so almost anyone can do it. I have always felt that the grass roots public will have to solve this energy crisis. For some reason I do not have confidence that big government, big automakers, and big oil companies will ever solve the problems of pollution, cost and foreign dependence. Maybe it is the fact that they do not want to solve these problems and in fact they have a vested interest in keeping things the way they are, which means unbelievable profits, and/or tax revenues and tremendous power. That is why they want to build a Hydrogen Economy so they can continue to have control over the energy. Whereas, Bio diesel could be done by any number of small producers, which would eliminate the ability of a few huge companies or suppliers to control the energy and the prices. There is not near enough land available to produce enough vegetable oil for our fuel needs using, corn, soy, rapeseed or palm oil but there is enough land available to produce enough vegetable oil for our fuel need using algae. More on this topic later in our series about Bio diesel. For now lets see how to make our own Bio diesel. The first thing that you need to find out is what regulations (if any) your local government (usually County) has on picking up and transporting used vegetable oil. Most smaller counties have no regulations and require no permits. Some of the larger counties do, so check with the Health Department of your county and see if a permit is required and what it takes to obtain one. The other permit that may be required is a processing plant permit. Check this at the same time. Hopefully there will be none required in you area. If there are permits required you must take this into account when looking at the total cost of producing the diesel. One individual in my county even moved to a neighboring county so he could make his own fuel. The second step is to locate a supply of used fryer oil. At first this may seem daunting, but as you get into it you realize that there are many sources for oil. Restaurants have been our best source but grocery stores, hospitals, retirement homes, private school kitchens, festivals, large churches that have commercial kitchens, gas stations that sell fried chicken etc. all have oil they need to dispose of. The world has waited wistfully since Dante Giacosaâ€™s tiny, rear-engined, air-cooled submini ceased production three decades ago, and eagerly since the Trepiuno concept at the 2004 Geneva show. It had just three seats and wasnâ€™t really practical, but the world loved it. Clearly Fiat had the will to make a new 500 and make Italians love their national car company again. Fiat CEO Luca de Meo even admits that, when he got his job, his mother said he should build a new 500.So Fiat has, moving from concept to production in just 18 months thanks to all those engineers and designers who live entirely inside computers. Reinterpreting something retro and (cue over-used word) iconic worked quite well for VW and brilliantly for Rover/BMW, so Fiat could hardly not do it. The result is a car with almost exactly the same profile as the orginal but blown up by 30 per cent or so....

The general public only knows the name of these cars, and not much about what makes them a quality vehicle.
After those two groups of cars, there is another group that most of the population would never be able to afford, and most people also do not know a lot about these cars. In fact, some people may not even know that some of these cars even exist. The cars I'm talking about are more than luxury cars, more than sports cars, and more money than four or five "regular" cars put together! Here are the top ten most expensive cars in the world:
Bugatti Veyron - With a price tag of $1,700,000, there aren't too many people who you will see driving this vehicle around town. With "1001" horsepower, this car has a 16.4 engine and it can get up to a speed of 400 kilometers per hour. This car was built by a subsidiary of Volkswagon in France, and it took years to perfect.
Ferrari Enzo - This sports car costs 1,000,000, and is also known as the Enzo Ferrari or the F60. It was built with Formula One Technology in 2003. This car and its brand name basically speaks for itself in the racing world.
Pagani Zonda C12 F - Weighing in at $741,000, this car is still too expensive for the average person to own, and probably the above average person as well! It sports a 7.3 V12 engine that has been passed down by its predecessors.
Koenigsegg CCX - This sports car will cost you $600,910 to buy, and it is worth every penny. The Competition Coupe X (CCX) commemorates the anniversary of the completion and first test drive of the first CC car in 1996. It has a 32 valve V-8 engine that was based on the Ford Modular engine design.
Porsche Carrera GT - This car has a price tag of $484,000. Labeled as a super car, this German made sports car has a 5.7 liter, V10 engine. It also boasts a 612 SAE horsepower.

What makes these cars so expensive? A combination of things contributes to the price tags of these vehicles. One part is the years of work that went into designing and making them. Indeed, when the onboard sensor makes a fuel change, it does it in such a way that the driver will hardly notice, if at all, guaranteeing constant driving conditions and fuel yield in any road conditions. This way, the condition and longevity of the car is protected, even when natural gas is used, and in addition the fuel savings are constantly promoted.Naturally, with the objective of cutting running costs, the first fuel the system will use will be a natural gas type fuel, whenever available. But, when the sensor detects a situation in which greater acceleration is needed, the interchange to liquid fuel is made automatically. The motor will use the natural gas again whenever the system detects that it is the most advisable fuel for that moment.The Tetrafuel system is based on technology called "SFS" or "Software Sensorial Flexfuel" that began its development in 1999 using 100% Brazilian engineering. Fiat, BMW Vantage First Europe 5-month Sales Gain

As drifting demand in Romania and Poland spurred the rise in Germany, Fiat SpA and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG led the first increase in European car sales in five months.
The Brussels-based European Automobile Manufacturers Association said July 13 that in June, new car registrations rose 0.7 percent to 1.54 million vehicles from 1.53 million a year earlier. With 8.51 million vehicles, first-half sales dropped 0.2 percent.
Based in Turin, Italy, Fiat increased sales 9.9 percent to 119,130 vehicles. On the other hand, BMW, the world's largest maker of luxury cars, built up purchases 6.9 percent to 83,594. As economic expansion stimulates consumer spending, sales in Eastern Europe increased. In Germany, a sales tax increase hurdle potential buyers.
Horst Schneider, an analyst at WestLB in Dusseldorf, said that the European market has a very mixed picture. He added that Germany is still suffering from the drag effect on demand that happened last year before the tax was hiked. He also said that there will be no change in demand until next year.
In Milan, shares of Fiat fell 22 cents, or 0.9 percent, to 23.49 euros. The stock has more than doubled as compared to the figures last year. BMW 2800 parts maker and Munich-based BMW rose 23 cents or 0.5 percent, to 48.89 euros. It has gained 27 percent for the previous year.
In June, Fiat's market share raised to 7.7 percent from 7.1 percent a year earlier on deliveries of the new Bravo compact, which was available in February, as well as the Grande Punto and Panda models. This year Fiat sales have gained 7.2 percent and the company has hiked European sales for 18 consecutive months.
BMW Chief Executive Officer Norbert Reithofer said in February that he expects pretax profit to increase in 2007, spurred by new versions of the Mini small car, which started its availability in November, the 1-Series car and sport-utility vehicles. BMW's market share increased to 5.4 percent last month from 5.1 percent.
Eastern European sales jumped 21 percent higher last month, while western European registrations declined 0.6 percent. Sales in Romania flowed 56 percent to 32,679 vehicles, while Poland earned a gain of 23 percent to 25,809 units. German sales decreased 7 percent to 301,108 vehicles.
The government in Poland, Eastern Europe's largest economy, forecasts growth this year of 6.5 percent. Due to an increase in sales tax to 19 percent from 16 percent at the start of the year, the German carmakers association forecast in July 3 that 2007 sales will jump 7.8 percent down to 3.2 million vehicles.

Fiat enticing Tata

So the biggest qualified rumour in the market? That the Fiat Group has initiated discussions with Tata Motors and has offered Fiat Auto to be sold to Tata Motors. So what's new? Considering that Fiat and Tata have been acting as a couple who have found love on the rebound in each other, this was bound to happen. Wait a minute! Holy cow! Its not Fiat India but the whole of Fiat Auto which is being offered.
So will Tata bite? Very unlikely. Or even if they do bite, it would be a difficult thing to chew - its more like asking a six year old to take a bite of a six layer jumbo club sandwich. But hey, the club sandwich sure looks appealing.
Fiat was on its way back up but that's akin to saying they had again reached the base camp of Mt. Everest after slipping from the peak. The Fiat management in Italy obviously reckons that letting go of Fiat Auto is in the best interest of the group and brilliant Panda and Grande Punto are perhaps good enough high points to sell off.
So will Tata buy it. Well, the company is already stretched in the INR 100,000 car project and taking over Fiat may be a huge stretch on resources. But Tata-Fiat can always experiment with a stretched contract and transfer of Fiat Auto over five years starting with the shifting of production and component sourcing attributes to Tata.

Abarth rose to fame as an independent automotive racing company that primarily used tuned Ferraris and Porsches. In 1971 Abarth was purchased by Fiat and became the racing department of Fiat as well as subsidiaries Lancia and Autobianchi. The Abarth scorpion logo became something to fear in rally and hill climb races. The Autobianchi Abarth A112 was particularly successful and popular. Fiat is now bringing the Abarth badge back with the 2007 Fiat Abarth Grande Punto. Abarth will act as its own separate division within Fiat.
The 2007 Fiat Abarth Grande Punto was revealed at Geneva this year to a very happy crowd. The new Abarth Punto looks much sleeker and sexier than past Fiat Puntos and has a very clean look due to the taillights being mounted high. The 2007 Fiat Abarth Grande Punto also has many sporty cues that differentiate it from a standard Fiat Punto. First of all there is a dual exhaust along with racing-style wheels. Big disc brakes and red calipers give off a sporty appearance to those who know where to look. And racing stripes along the bottom of the car make its sportiness known to even the uninitiated.
There have been Abarth editions of the Fiat Punto in the past, but they were not true Abarth cars. For one, they were created by Fiat rather than being tuned by Abarth engineers. Secondly, they did not have any true mechanical upgrades and instead featured only styling changes such as body kits. The 2007 Abarth Punto is going to be a true Abarth road car with vastly upgraded performance.
The 2007 Fiat Abarth Grande Punto will come with a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine that makes 150 horsepower at only 5500 RPM. Even better, the car will make 155 horsepower on 98 RON gasoline, if the owner is so inclined. There will also be a booster kit available soon after the car goes on sale. This kit will allow the car to make 180 horsepower. For such a light car 180 horsepower is an extreme amount. Many American and Japanese sport compact cars make 190-230 horsepower, but they are much larger and heavier than the little Punto. Many small sporty cars like the Punto that have small high performance engines require a high engine speed to make good power. For example, many Honda four cylinders engines need to rev over 7000 RPM to make over 180 horsepower. The Abarth Punto engine is very small, but it has good mid-range power and torque. Time will tell whether the stressed-out pumped-up 1.4 liter turbo engine will be reliable in the long term, but unless the owner does any aggressive engine modifications the engine should be pretty stout.
Handling and braking, too, will no doubt be world class. However, the best part may be the price. While the car will not be marketed until September and no price is set, it will surely be less expensive than the American and Japanese sport compact cars, and will likely get better gas mileage as well. This makes the 2007 Fiat Abarth Grande Punto a perfect choice for young buyers that want an inexpensive car that will get good gas mileage and still be very fun to drive.
Abarth is also making a return to rally racing with the new Abarth Grande Punto. The 2007 Grande Punto S2000 will be entered into the Italian Rally Championship using Giandomenico Basso and Mitia Dotta and driver and navigator. The S2000 racing version of the car will make 270 horsepower and have all wheel drive. The Abarth Grande Punto S2000 is also set to race in the World Rally Championship next year in hopes of getting international acclaim.
As the S2000 racing version of the Grande Punto is put through its paces on the rally courses around the world, the Abarth team will get precious data on how the car works and what can be done to improve it in racing conditions. These advances will surely trickle down to the consumer and more official parts will become available to increase the streetcars' performance. Third party tuners will likely create products as well to fill the demand created by rally fans wanting to turn their Abarth Punto road car into a street legal race car resembling the official Fiat Abarth rally car in looks and performance.
